フロムを読んだら、厄介な仕事ほど率先して行おうという気になる。積極的にことにあたれば何事も自らの活動の喜びとなるものだ。

After reading Fromm, I feel like doing more difficult work on my own initiative. If you do something positively, everything will be a joy to your activity.

やっと手に入れたバンハムのThe new brutalism。楽しみだなあ。I finally got Banham’s The new brutalism. I’m looking forward to reading it.

ジミーカーターは大統領に就任時、1977年にホワイトハウスの屋根に太陽光発電パネルを置いた。次のレーガンはそれらをとっぱらった。ディック・チェィニーを主人公にしたVICEという映画を見ていると共和党の反SDGs、レイシズム、反エコ、反累進課税政策には呆れる。

Jimmy Carter placed solar panels on the roof of the White House in 1977 when he became president. The next Reagan threw away them. Watching a movie called VICE with Dick Chainy as the main character, I am amazed at the Republican anti-SDGs, racism, anti-eco, and anti-progressive taxation policies.

拙著『建築の条件』を学ぶ3年生の授業がある。受講生は１５人と少ない。この学生に聞いた「将来建築家になりたい人」５人 だけだった。卒制をやるのは３−４０人くらいいるのだが、本当に設計をやるつもりなのは片手くらいのようである。まあそんなもんかな。
There is a class for third graders to study my book “Architectural Episteme”. The number of students is as small as 15. Only five “people who want to become architects in the future” asked this student. There are about 3-40 people who will do the thesis projects but it seems that only one hand is really going to design. I wonder if that is the case.
