My spouse bought me a case of masks when I was leaving them in my clogs.

拙著『建築の設計力』を世界中の友達に送ろうとしたのは4月20日。 その時、郵便局で言われたのは、中南米には配達できない。スペインとフランスへの航空便はない。船便しかないので２ヶ月かかる。アメリカ行きの航空便はあるが飛行機の数が少ないので、飛行機に乗るのに1ヶ月かかる。
私の本が今日届いたというニューヨークの友人からのメッセージがあった。2ヶ月かかった。航空便で。戦時中か？

It was April 20th that I tried to send my book “Architectural Design” to friends around the world. At that time, They told me at the post office. They cannot deliver mail to Latin America. There are no airline flights to Spain and France. It would take two months because it is by sea. Although there are airmails to the United States, it takes a month to get on an airplane due to the small number of aircraft.
There was a message from a friend in New York that my book arrived today. It took two months even by airmail.

吉田茂は戦後外務省の若き官僚を呼んでなぜ軍の押しに負けて戦争に突入したのかを分析せよと命じたという。そして戦後外務省の研修所が生まれた。設計したのは安田講堂の設計者である内田祥三（うちだよしかず）であり母校の運動場の脇に建っている。僕が建築を勉強しようかと高校時代に思いたったきっかけの建物である。あの巨大な建物の中で何が行われていたのか？この本に克明に書かれている。1994年に研修所は郊外に移り今は拓殖大学が使っている。

After the war, Shigeru Yoshida called a young bureaucrat from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to analyze why the ministry was defeated by the military and went to war. After the war, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ training center was born. Yoshikazu Uchida, the architect of the Yasuda Auditorium, designed it beside the playground of his alma mater. This building made me decide to study architecture when I was in high school. In 1994, the training center moved to the outskirts of Tokyo and Takusyoku University occupied it now.

石橋先輩も使っている。くっつかない鍋たち。性能高くまた増えた。Elder classmate Mr. Ishibashi is also using it. These pots and pans do not stick. Their performance is high,　and I have bought one more container.

マスクは一枚3円の頃の箱がまだ残っている。毎回洗っているので減らない。そもそも外出しないから使わない。だが美術館も開いたし、そして暑くなってきたのでスポーツ用を買ってみた。軽くて息苦しくなくてなかなかいい。

都現美、高島屋、丸善、近美、理科大、自宅が東西線上にリニアに並ぶ。今日そのありがたみをしみじみ感じる。

オラファー•エリアソンの展覧会は新しいエコロジーの表現と美術手帖に書いてあるがそういうことはまあ読み取りづらい。加えて表現は技巧と修辞に走り弱々しい。ドローイング展のマチスのペンの線には力を感じた。細い硬い早い線を練習しよう。

最近覚えた簡単料理。サバ缶に溶けるチーズとパン粉をかけて魚焼き機で10分。

A simple dish I recently learned. Melted cheese and breadcrumbs on a mackerel can put it in the fish oven for 10 minutes.

石橋先輩も使っている。くっつかない鍋たち。性能高くまた増えた。

緊急事態宣言が解除されると、大学は学生に何を制限すべきか判断しなければならない。

私見だが、大学は大学の中は大学のルールを守らせる権利も義務もある。しかし大学外にその力を行使するのは筋違いである。そこは注意義務はあっても行動を制限する権利はない。しかしそれが大学の研究の延長線上にあるならやはり制限範囲内だと思う。これははっきりさせておかないといけない。

もし彼ら彼女が自らの自律した考えの延長線上で行動するなら法を守る範囲内で彼ら彼女らを規制しない。自己責任と言えば冷たく聞こえるが他律的日本人が自律的に考える良い機会だと思う。

When the emergency declaration is lifted, the university must decide what to Restrict to students.
In my opinion, universities have the right and the obligation to obey the rules of the university. However, it is wrong to exercise that power outside the university. There is a duty of care, but there is no right to limit their actions. But if it’s an extension of university research, I think it’s within the limits. This has to be made clear.

If they act as an extension of their own independent ideas, they will not regulate them within the law. Speaking of self-responsibility, it sounds cold, but I think it is a good opportunity for heterogeneous Japanese to think autonomously.
