ニューヨークのオフィスビルは平面が四角くセンターコアが多い。それは敷地が四角いからである。一方東京のオフィスビルの敷地は四角とは限らないから敷地に座らせるためにコアを使って調整した。その嚆矢がパレスサイドビルである。林昌二の智慧である。しかしその後東京にも四角いビルが乱立する。その理由を今調査中である。恐らく原因の一つは公開空地制度で、敷地のの変形部分をパブリックスペースにすることで容積をもらっていたのではないかと推測している。この制度によって建築家は建築を敷地に馴染ませる必要がなくなってしまったのではと仮説を立てている。

先日発表した卒業設計の上位13名が今日はOBOGの会築理会の方々の前でプレゼンして最優秀者を決めた。また非常勤講師の皆様の投票で優秀者を決めた。また常勤の先生たちでも優秀者を決めた。そしていずれも違う人が選ばれた。

センター棟とクリニック棟の屋根は北側寄棟、南側切妻、屋根平面は左右対称な長方形である。内部平面はセンター棟は小部屋をまとめて白い箱の中に入れてコアとしてその周りをドーナツ状の大空間と廊下空間で囲んだ。一方クリニック棟は中央に大部屋を置いてその周りにUの字に小部屋を並べた。どちらも棟を平らにしてトップライトを組み込んでいる。幾何学的な形式を重視したのは合理的な木材利用をするためでもある。
