最近日本酒飲まないのだが、レジ横に置いてあった「立春朝搾り生原酒」にやられた。レジ待ちしてるとつい手が伸びる。I haven’t been drinking sake lately, but I was struck by the “squeezed raw sake in Risshun morning” that was placeed next to the cash register. When you wait for the register, you are likely buying something.

建築家倫理の定説では建築家はクライアントに忠実義務があり。公衆に対しては予防倫理（環境などに対して何かをしてはいけない）があるという。どうもそこがそう言い切れないように思う。クライアントに対しては両者の意見を調停する義務があるのであり一方的に忠誠を誓うのではない。公衆に対しては予防倫理があるだけではなく、ここにも両者の意見を調停して社会を変えていくベクトルが必要なのだと思う。

According to the established theory of architect ethics, architects have a duty of loyalty to their clients. It is said that there is preventive ethics for the public (do not do anything for the environment etc.). I don’t think I can say that. The architect is obliged to mediate the opinions of both parties and does not unilaterally pledge allegiance. Not only is there a preventive ethic for the public, but I think it is also necessary to have a vector that mediates the opinions of both parties and change society.

今月号の「建築が生まれる時」は室伏次郎さんの球磨焼酎の「蔵」の建て替え計画が生まれた時のスケッチである。それは水を囲みコの字型に切妻と寄棟の２階建ての３棟の建物が配置され、円形に山が描かれた絵である。敷地の熊本県の人吉盆地は270万年前は湖だったと言う歴史と、球磨川の水流が焼酎の原水であると言う事実からこの水を囲むイメージが生まれたようである。This month’s issue of “When architecture was born” is a sketch of Jiro Murofushi’s perspective drawing  to rebuild the “Kura” of Kumashochu. It is a picture in which three buildings with a gable and a hipped roof are arranged in a U-shape surrounding the water, and a mountain is drawn in the back. It seems that the image surrounding this water was born from the history that the Hitoyoshi Basin in Kumamoto Prefecture was a lake 2.7 million years ago and the fact that the water flow of the Kuma River is the raw water of shochu.

この道徳の本は私と私たち、私たちと彼らの主張を調停するやり方を教えてくれる。建築は極めて道徳的行為である。私とクライアント、私達と社会を調停するのが建築だから。
This moral book teaches how to mediate between me and us and between us and them. Architecture is a very moral act. Because it is architecture that mediates between me and my clients, and between us and society.

6時間半の長い会議終了。長いことが予想されたのでコロナ予防で場所はなんと学会ホール。後は原稿書いて表彰して部会長の任は解かれる。皆で一杯いつかしましょうね！
