One of the few places to eat out in Kagurazaka is Desino for French, and Albertata for Italian today. My plan to have dinner with our daughter was no longer available, so we decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary 19 days early. I love that tea cup doesn’t have a hundle.
Since I have published many books in quick succession, people often ask me when I write. I was asked yesterday by the editor-in-chief of a magazine how I write, and I answered that I make it a habit. If you don’t miss a meal, like eating a meal, you will move forward little by little. Although on a different level, I have heard that Haruki Murakami also writes a fixed amount of paper every day, which I imitate. I’ve been told that it’s hard to teach at university, design, and then write in between, but I think it’s the same thing because even when you’re busy, you still eat.
The Sakaushi Laboratory will hold a Christmas Esquis check on December 3rd this year. Like last year, in the morning, OBOG will report their current works; in the afternoon, we will have 4th year M2 design, paper presentation, critique, and dinner in the evening. OBOGs, please write it down in your notebook. Although it’s a long way to Kanamachi, please come to see the faces of our juniors and teachers for the first time in a while because you can’t see it anymore.
Lemon, a long-established architectural model materials company in Ochanomizu, has been in business for 100 years. It has been running the Graduation Design Exhibition, known as the Lemon Exhibition, for nearly half a century. I talked with Daisuke Furusawa about the beginning and future of the lemon exhibition. It’s a little long, but please listen to it.
When Akiko Takahashi did assignments during her time at Kyoto University, there was always a void in the middle. Around that time, she learned from a magazine that there was a people who designed similar designs to her. That person was Kazuo Shinohara, and she applied to graduate school at Tokyo Institute of Technology. However, the master student was not allowed to participate in the design, and after two years, she entered the doctoral program and her first blueprint, which she happily drew, was a full-scale drawing of furniture for the Ukiyo-e Museum.
I spoke with Akiko Takahashi for two hours. She came from Kyoto University in 1980, entered the doctoral program in 1982, and finally joined the design team. She was in charge of House Inn Yokohama, Hanayama Hospital, and moved to Shinohara Atelier and was in charge of the Kumamoto Police Station. I also lived in the same age then and heard many stories about the world unknown to Mr. Shinohara.
