帰宅すると平瀬さんとの共著『世界としての窓』の初校が早稲田大学出版会から届いていた。282ページとは思いの他どっしりとした新書である。最近多いのだが目次立てが三部構成。
第一部は「諸芸術における〈窓〉」
第二部は「建築における〈窓〉」
第三部は「命を注ぎ込む〈窓）」である。
世界があるから窓があるのではなく、窓があるから世界があるという転回をおわりの言葉とした。
編集八尾さんの卒論がウィットゲンシュタインだったということで、お知恵をお借りした次第です。
When I got home, the first copy of “Window as a World,” co-authored with Mr. Hirase, had arrived from Waseda University Press. At 282 pages, it is a much heavier new book than I expected. Recently, there have been many cases where the table of contents is structured into three parts.
The first part is “Windows in various arts”
The second part is “Windows in architecture”
The third part is “Window into which life is poured.”
The final words of the book are a shift from the idea that because there is a world, there are windows, but because there are windows, there is a world.
Editor Mr. Yao’s graduation thesis was on Wittgenstein, so I borrowed his wisdom from him.

一年生の演習:設計基礎1は住吉の長屋、白の家、直方体の森のトレースをする。埼玉県美展覧会用に作った模型が役に立っている。 Exercises for first grade students: Basic design 1 involves tracing the Sumiyoshi tenement house,House in white, and Rctangular parallelepiped forest. The model made for the Saitama Prefectural Art Museum Exhibition is proving useful.

同じタイトルの本を読むのをお勧めする。特に自分の専門でない分野は。I recommend reading the book with the same title. Especially in areas that are not your specialty.

Architects analyzed as late avant-garde include Aldo Rossi, John Hejduk, Peter Eisenman, and Bernard Tschumi. The titles of Rossi’s chapter is Desire, Eisenman Repetition, Hejdak’s Encounters, and Tschumi’s Intervals. Should I read it quickly?
