狭い生協の書架に拙著、拙訳が5冊も並び有り難い。しかし一目で売れ行きが分かるのが怖くてこの前を通れない。I am grateful that five of my books and translations are lined up on the shelves of the small co-op. But I can’t walk past it because I’m afraid I can see the sales figures at a glance.

理科大の学部から芸大、東大、東工大の大学院に行く学生が多い。その動機は3校は国立で学費が安いから、理科大の院に空きがないから。だと最近感じる。昔はかなり憧れがあったみたいだけど最近はないみたい。Many students go on to graduate school at Tokyo University of Arts, Tokyo University, and Tokyo Institute of Technology from their undergraduate studies at TUS. The motivation for this is that the three schools are national and the tuition fees are low, and there are no spaces in the graduate schools of TUS. That’s what I feel lately. It seems like there was a lot of admiration for them in the past, but not anymore.

坂牛研究室OBOG名簿作ろうと思った。でもただの名簿ではなくてポジティブ名簿にしようと思い、今後展覧会など一緒にする意思のある人は返信くださいと連絡した。結果は信大生46人中23人、理科大生202人中56人返信が来た。全部で約80人である。いい線だね。もし返事し忘れていますという人がいたら一報ください。
I decided to create a list of Sakaushi laboratory alumni. However, I wanted to make it a positive rather than just a list, so I contacted them and asked them to reply if they were interested in holding an exhibition together in the future. 23 out of 46 Shindai University students and 56 out of 202 Tokyo University of Science students responded. There are about 80 people in total. That’s a good line. If someone forgets to reply, please let me know.

塚本研は里山に入り浸り最早農学部だねと言ったら建築の未来だと言う。その話をデジタル大好きな大野友資さんにしたら農学建築大賛成と言う。今に農学部建築学科や建築を歴史哲学的に探求する文学部建築学科が生まれるといい。あるいは建築学科の中を改革すべきかも。計画、環境、構造と未だに用強美で分けるのやめて、工学、農学、文学で分けたらいい。そうして論文の書き方からアドミッションポリシーもディプロマポリシーも別別にしたらいい。Tsukamoto Lab is immersed in Satoyama, and when I say that it is the Faculty of Agriculture, I am told that it is the future of architecture. When I talked about this to Yusuke Ohno, who loves digital technology, he said he was in full support of agricultural architecture. It would be great if a Department of Architecture in the Faculty of Agriculture or a Department of Architecture in the Faculty of Letters, which explores architecture from a historical-philosophical perspective, were born. Or maybe we should reform the architecture department. It would be better to stop dividing planning, environment, and structure based on utility, strength, and beauty, and instead divide them into engineering, agriculture, and literature. Then, it would be a good idea to separate admission policy, diploma policy and how to write a thesis.

8/5-8/9、理科大工学部建築学科では恒例の国際ワークショップを行います。指導はマドリード工科大のマルタ•ムニョス准教授。テーマは建築の解釈。3月にマドリードでやったテーマです。The annual international workshop will be held at the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Tokyo University of Science from August 5th to August 9th. The instructor is Associate Professor Marta Muñoz of the Polytechnic University of Madrid. The theme is Architecture in translation. This is the theme we did in Madrid in March.
