『〈世界〉としての窓』第二校が届いた。直したいところはなくならない。建築と同じだな。The second proofreading of “Window as the World” has arrived. There are things I want to fix that don’t go away. It’s the same as architecture.

次に出す平瀬 有人さんとの共著のカバーデザイン案が送られてきた。と思ったらこれはカバーではなく、最近よくある太帯というもの。帯が本の幅まで太くなったもの。早稲田新書の海老茶のカバーが見えない。I received a proposal for the next cover design co-authored with Yujin Hirase. When I thought about it, this was not a cover, but a thick obi, which is common these days. The obi is as thick as the width of a book. I can’t see the cover of Waseda Shinsho’s Ebicha color.

Doing Good

マルクス•ガブリエルの今年書いた本の訳が出た。原題がDoing Good。道徳を基礎に置いた剰余価値の生産という可能性の書。人間の善をそこまで信じられるのか私には自信がない。でも建築も求められるのは倫理性である。The translation of Markus Gabriel’s book written this year has been released. The original title is Doing Good. A book about the possibility of producing surplus value based on morality. I’m not sure if I can believe that much in the goodness of humans. But architecture also requires ethics.

坂の街

坂の街にある階段の家にいつまで暮らせるかな?と配偶者と話す。90かなと言うと80でしょと彼女は言う。誰か壊さず使ってくれる人に売って平な所に住もう。大きな図書館と美術館のあるまちがいいな。先過ぎるかもしれないけど来年かもしれない。How long can we live in a house with stairs in a hill town? talk to my spouse. When I said 90, she said 80. Let’s sell it to someone who will use it without destroying it and live in a flat place. We like a town with a big library and art museum. It may be too far in the future, but it could be next year.
