富士吉田市には富士山課という課がある。富士山課は富士吉田の名物を掘り起こし、街のDNAを未来に繋げる課である。僕らの設計している道の駅も、昨日プレオープンした喫茶檸檬も皆富士山課が担当だ。その富士山課が作った冊子を昨日いただいた。そこに載っていた素敵な富士吉田の全景写真に我らの友赤松くんの文章が載っていた。彼は8年前にこの地に移住し、富士吉田の閉じられたシャッターを上げるために奮闘している。僕らはというとやはり同じ頃期せずしてリノベコンペに勝ってこの地の仕事を始めて今日に至る。OFDAは支所も開設してまさにどっぷり彼の地の一員と化している。

Fujiyoshida City has a section called Mt. Fuji Section. The Mt. Fuji section is a section that digs up Fujiyoshida’s specialties and connects the DNA of the city to the future. The roadside station we are designing and the coffee shop that pre-opened yesterday are all in charge of the Mt. Fuji section. I received the booklet made by the Mt. Fuji section yesterday. The text of our friend Akamatsu-kun was included in the wonderful panoramic photo of Fujiyoshida that was on it. He moved to this area eight years ago and is struggling to raise the closed shutters of Fujiyoshida. As for us, at the same time, we won the renovation competition and started working in this area until today. OFDA has also opened a branch office and has become a member of the land.

富士吉田出張。久しぶりの真っ黒い富士山。Fujiyoshida business trip. Mt. Fuji is black for the first time in a long time.

自らが十分に知的でないと国家もまたその知的評価を減ずると信じている人間がある一定数含まない限り民主国家は成り立たない。今、日本はその成り立たない状態にある。と内田は言う。こんな民主主義の定義は聞いたこともないがよく分かる。これは大学でも、家庭でも、設計事務所にも当てはまる。

A democracy cannot be established unless there are a certain number of people who believe that if they are not intelligent enough, the nation will also reduce its intellectual reputation.  Today Japan is in a state where it doesn’t hold.  Uchida says.  I’ve never heard of such a definition of democracy, but I understand it well.  This alsoapplies to colleges, homes, and design firms.

A cafe named kissa lemon was completed in Fujiyoshida produced by lemon life with the joint design of OFDA Hirofumi Nakagawa and Ryo Yamamoto, an alumnus of Sakaushi  Lab.
