東工大に行って拙著を肴に「建築家とは何だ」という座談会を鹿島の北さん、日建の杉山さんと行いました。『会社を辞めて建築家になった』即売会をしました。初めてサイン会をしたら３０冊売れました。ありがとうございます。I went to Tokyo Institute of Technology and had a round-table discussion on “What is an architect?” I did a spot sale of “I left architectural design company and became an independent architect”. When I had my first autograph session, I sold 30 copies. thank you.

皆川明の自伝を読みながら彼にはかけがえなの無いスタッフがいたことを知った。それは僕も同じで25年OFDAをやってきたけれど、８名のスタッフに支えられてここまできた。スペインから出版したモノグラフの最後のページに全員の顔写真を比較的大きく掲載した。こんなことをしているのはこのシリーズの本には前例がないのだが、そうする必要が僕の心の中にはあって出版社にお願いして掲載してもらった。事務所を作った時にナカジが居候のように事務所にやってこなければ僕の出世作であるリーテム東京工場はできなかったと思う。8人の面々はそれぞれ僕の体の一部のようなものでもある。OFDAはもう直ぐ改名してDAにするけれど多様性が事務所を作った時から最も大事なことでありこれからも変わらない。
While reading Akira Minagawa’s autobiography, I learned he had an irreplaceable staff. It’s the same for me, and I’ve been doing OFDA for 25 years, but I’ve come this far with the support of eight staff members. On the last page of the monograph from Spain, I published a relatively large photograph of everyone’s face. There is no precedent for this in the books in this series, but the need to do so was in my heart, and I asked the publisher to include it. I wouldn’t have been able to build the Re-Tem Tokyo factory, which was my career success if Nakaji hadn’t come to the office like a freeloader when I set up the office. Each of the eight members is like a part of my body. OFDA will soon change its name to DA, but diversity has been the most important thing since the agency’s establishment, and it will not change.

今日東工大で座談会だが、スケジュール見たら明後日も東工大で例の会なんだ。昨日は東大。南北線大活躍。Today we have a round-table discussion at Tokyo Tech, but looking at the schedule, the day after tomorrow is the Sakamoto alumni meeting at Tokyo Tech. University of Tokyo yesterday. The North-South Line is very active.

皆川明は骨折して陸上選手を諦めて、パリでKOSHINO　JUNKOのパリコレの手伝いしているうちにファッションやろうと思って文化服装の夜間に通い、八王子でちいさなアトリエを作り、白金に初めて自分の店を作った時に預金残高5万円だったという。やりたいことをするのが仕事であって対価のために仕事をするのではない。と書いている。明日は東工大で自著『会社を辞めて建築家になった』の話をするのだが、ミナの話をまずしよう。

昨日配偶者がレバニラ炒めが食べたいといい宝龍という近所の中華に行った。昭和37年創業と聞き、その頃の神楽坂はどんなだったのかネット検索した。上の方の写真は見つからなかったが入り口あたりはこんなだった。昭和34年。私たちの生まれた年。Yesterday, my spouse wanted to eat rebanira, so we went to a nearby Chinese restaurant called Hokuryu. When I heard that it was founded in 1962, I searched the internet to see what Kagurazaka was like at that time. I couldn’t find the picture above, but it was like this around the entrance. 1959. the year we were born.
