Akio Okada, whom I am a self-proclaimed fan, won the Hideo Kobayashi Award for “Music crisis” and I had high hopes for the book as it received many reviews, but I was disappointed. When the first edition was published in 2000, the coronavirus pandemic had just started, and there were many things in crisis, both music and science, and it was serious. Four years have passed since then, and as expected, the world no longer looks the same. This kind of book is a living thing.

Manga old architecture books are indispensable for understanding construction methods. This book in particular is very educational. It would be great if it could be used as a textbook for university students.

A 20-year-old building designed by a famous architect was consulted about being cold. Looking at the drawings, it’s an exposed RC structure with no insulation (not Mr. Ando). Conference room with a ceiling height of 5 meters. It must be cold. No matter how much you turn on the air conditioner, it probably won’t work. 20 years ago, a design like this would have been acceptable.

This is the season when students decide on a laboratory. Every year, the number of students applying to majors in planning at TUS exceeds their capacity. Students who have no choice but to study environmental or structural engineering will think about design from that perspective. That’s not bad either.
