Soseki Natsume is a novelist who describes the lack of ego of modern Japanese people. And often it ends with a lamentation. However, Ogai Mori is a contrasting writer who awakens to his own ego and never collides with the walls of society. Masakazu Yamazaki learned that he wrote such Ogai in “Ogai Mori Fighting Patriarch” and I suddenly wanted to read it. This is because I still feel that Japanese are non-autonomous people without ego. Did this happen because there were so many Ogai who didn’t feel the lack of ego?
