ワイエスの窓
アンドリュー•ワイエスの窓の絵が好きだ。堀江俊幸が『戸惑う窓』でワイエスの窓から覗きこむゼラニウムをこう説明していた。「何が起こるか分からないままに何かを待つという行為が画面の強度を高めていくのだ」。僕が好きな理由はその不気味さだなと合点がいった。自分の作る窓にもどこかそんな期待がある。
I like the paintings on the windows of Andrew Wyeth. Toshiyuki Horie explained the geranium drawn by Wyeth which looks through the window in his book “The Confused Window”. “The act of waiting for something without knowing what will happen increases the strength of the screen.” The point was that the reason I like it is that it’s creepy. There are some expectations for the windows I design.
