There is an architecture in which a shape is created by combining functions with an architecture and there is another type of architecture which is packed with functions by first placing geometry. I call the former sac architecture and the latter box architecture. And although my design is usually a sac, when I come to a large site, I want to make it into a box. Whether it’s a villa by Palladio or a rectangular parallelepiped forest of Kazuo Shinohara, the site is vast. If it is wide, there will be no restrictions from the surroundings and it will be free. On the contrary, it loses its place and relies on geometry.
