The former Welfare Pension Hospital was born in 1932 as a masterpiece of Mamoru Yamada, and survived until the turn of the century. My grandmother was hospitalized and I remembered that transparent lamp. Although I worked at Nikken near to this hospital, I didn’t use it much because I often went to Sanraku Hospital, where my father had a connection (my mother was born in Sanraku and died in Sanraku).
The new welfare pension was also designed by Mamoru Yamada office and completed in 2000. After that, the name changed due to the reorganization of the management body, and it became JCHO Tokyo Medical Center. Many of the long names in the merger and renaming during the bubble period are forgettable. But the meaning is that the regional medical function promotion organization . I realized the concept of the facility this time which is the cooperative play between the accurate instruction of the female doctor of “Mimi Hana Nodo Kagurazaka Clinic”. and the immediate acceptance of this hospital. By the way, the chairman of this JCHO is that chairman Omi.
Two years ago, at this hospital in the neighborhood, I felt that the white Yamada style curve was the accent of the intersection on the walk course with my spouse. However, the aging of 20 years after completion cannot be hidden. The escalator rattles and the lighting is dim. Therefore, I am keenly aware that I have to seriously think about how to renovate a building that has been built for about 20 years, rather than rebuilding it. But for that matter, I think we should first create a good space with good materials. The parquet floor of the former Sanraku Hospital still revives in my head. Especially that of the staircase. It was a place where a lot of outside light came in, so it remains in my heart as a space. So is Mamoru Yamada’s lamp. Grandmother sitting in the wheelchair of the lamp revives. Getting old is not just about things getting old. It also means that it does not become obsolete in people’s minds, it is not just a matter of materials and construction, but a comprehensive thing that includes more space and details. Sustainable is also important in terms of design that does not become obsolete. However, all must be quantified, and bad scientific blind faith eliminates such evaluation criteria. I think it should be reviewed.
