I finished reading the Imperial Hotel book that Mr. Yamazaki wrote a review for in no time. I’m surprised that even though Eiichi Shibusawa became (or made) the company’s chairman, the occupancy rate was in the single digits when it first opened. Tourists stopped in Yokohama. Although there was an earthquake on the opening day, there was little damage because the building was divided into 10 blocks by expansion joints using a floating foundation, and no fire broke out because it was all electric. It sounds like a lie, but I’m surprised again.
