午後、都限美、行ってきました。すごかったです。理科大OB尊敬します。僕の建築の中に映るライゾマの映像の中で踊る北村明子さんを想像しました。いつか実現させたいですね。

In the afternoon, I went to Tokyo metropolitan museum of art.  It was amazing.  I respect the aluminum of Tokyo University of Science.  I imagined Akiko Kitamura dancing in the image of Rhizomatiks reflected in my architecture.  I want to make it happen someday.

神楽坂の数少ない行きつけの店「うつわや釉」はお祝いの品を探す店。昨日は素敵なガラス器に出会う。少し歪んだ表面と、黄ばんだ色が気に入った。店主が言う。大学教授のお客さんで教え子の結婚式には祝儀の代わりに器をあげるという方がいます、と。それ僕のことでしょうと言ったら、坂牛さん以外にいますと言われた。僕がそうしているのは林昌二さんから祝儀の代わりに器をもらい、いまでもその器を使うと林さんを思い出すからである。

One of the few shops in Kagurazaka, where I often go “Utsuwaya Yu,” is a shop where I look for festive items. I met a nice glassware yesterday. I like the slightly distorted surface and the yellowish color. The shopkeeper says. A university professor who is customer says that he  give a vessel instead of a celebration tip at their student’s wedding ceremony. When I said that it was me, I was told that I was not Mr. Sakaushi. I do this because I received a vessel from Mr. Shoji Hayashi instead of a celebration tip. and I still remember Mr. Hayashi when I use that vessel.

この本を読んでいたら、配偶者がリクルートスーツは洋服屋の策略だと怒っている。でもどうもそうとも言えない。９０年台まではリクルートスーツ（ちなみにこの言葉は和製英語で英語ではインタビュードレスと言う）は１０万くらい出して買い、就職してからも着るファーストスーツだった。それが今世紀に入ってどんどん安くなりいまや数万円で買い、就職したらもう着ない、就活専用ユニフォームとなったのである。企業は個性を出して自由な服装を要請しても学生側はそれはそれでお金がかかるから、安いユニフォームを着る方が楽だと言うことのようなのである。そうねえ娘ももはやユニフォーム着ていないねえ。

When I read this book, my spouse was upset with me, saying that recruitment suits are a ploy by clothing stores, but I’m not sure. Until the 1990s, a recruiting suit (which is called an interview dress in English, by the way) cost more than 100,000 yen and was the first suit you wear after you got a job. However, in this century, it has become cheaper and cheaper, and now it is bought for a few tens of thousands of yen, and once you get a job, you don’t wear it anymore. Companies are asking students to show their individuality and dress freely, but students are saying that this costs money and it is easier to wear cheap uniforms. Well, my daughter doesn’t wear a uniform anymore, does she?

増田、大坪の処女作はギャラ間の展覧会には展示されなかった。しかしうちの近所にあり彼らのルーツである。それを入れなかった理由は予想外だった。知りたい方は5月15日号JIA マガジンをご覧ください。

Masuda and Otsubo’s maiden works were not exhibited in the exhibition at the gallery MA last year. But it’s in our neighborhood and their roots. The reason they didn’t put it in was unexpected. For more information, please read the May 15 issue of JIA Magazine.

我が心石にあらずは高橋和巳の小説の題名に使われた漢詩の一節。人の心は石ころを転がすように変わるものではないと言う意味。市澤静山先生の字で豪快で味がある。
A passage of Chinese poetry used in the title of Kazumi Takahashi’s novel. It means that the human mind does not change like rolling stones. It is a lively and tasteful character written by Professor Seizan Ichizawa.
