1)建築中心主義　プロポーション、線や面の構成、空間の連なり、などを探求

2)人間中心主義　建築が人間の所在を作り、精神を維持する、などの効果を探求

3)自然中心、反人間中心主義　建築と自然（環境）の関係を探求

9人の大学院生のうち５人が建築中心主義、３人が人間中心主義、１人が自然中心主義と答えた。建築中心主義を選んだ５人のうち４人は授業をする前は人間中心主義だったと言っている。ということは学部の教育は人間中心主義だったということだろう。それが普通だけど。

1) Architecture-centeredness: Exploring proportions, the composition of lines and surfaces, the interconnection of spaces, etc.

2) Anthropocentrism Exploring the effects of architecture on creating human location, maintaining the spirit, etc.

3) Nature-centered, anti-human-centered: Exploring the relationship between architecture and nature (environment)

Five of the nine graduate students said they were architecture-centered, three said they were anthropocentric, and one said they were nature-centered. Four of the five students who chose architecture-centricity said they were anthropocentric before the class. That would mean that their undergraduate education was anthropocentric. That’s normal, though.

JIAマガジン8月15日号は編集後期を先ほど送った。明日校了である。今月の「建築が生まれる時」はマウンウトフジアーキテクツの原田真宏さん、麻魚さんの処女作の生まれた時である。XXXXと命名された真宏さんのお父さんの陶芸アトリエは18年前に設計されたものである。しかしそこで練られた幾何学と構造の妙は、その後のお二人の作品に一貫して現れるものである。しかも、そのスケッチは岩波文庫、柳宗悦「手仕事の日本」の表紙に描かれていた。柳の提唱した民藝の美は環境条件の中での必然に支えられていたのであり、マウントフジの建築理念を暗示しているようで興味深い。

梅雨が明けたので植物への朝の水やり当番を拝命した。

ラグビースーパーリーグのスタジアム屋根が美しい。設計してみたいと思うものの誰かが発注してくれなければ一生そんなチャンスはない。作りたいものを作れる建築家なんておそらくこの世にはいない。あのフランクOゲーリーだって一度グニャグニャスタイルで売れちゃうと、ほかのデザインはさせてもらえないと嘆いている。しかしこういうことはおよそ金を得て生きていく上では必然であろう。やりたくないことはするなとは父の教えだが、やりたいことができるわけではないというのもまた受け入れざるを得ない。

Diego recommended Hans van der Laan’s Architectonic Space, which was 40,000yen on Amazon. I thought I would not, but Diego told me about a cheap foreign used bookstore.
