I came to the Yamashita Bookstore in Hanzomon to hear that it was open from 8 a.m., but there was no sign of the shutter opening. If you can’t open it, please indicate it on the website. I had no choice but to stop at no4 to buy some bread and go home.
今日はポルトガル料理。豚肩ロースとジャガイモのあさりの炒め物。海老アサリを白ワインでフランベ、ニンニク、タイム、ローズマリーで薫付け。サラダはトマト、シンたま、きゅうりにオリーブオイル、酢、オレガノ。
Today it’s Portuguese food: fried pork shoulder loin, potatoes, and clams. I flambeed prawns and clams in white wine, with garlic, thyme, and rosemary. The salad was tomatoes, onions, cucumbers with olive oil, vinegar, and oregano. The wine is Norton. Malbec. That’s so good!
今朝散歩帰りに近くのマイバスケットで鳥の胸肉を買ってきた。肉の中でも最も安いが上手く料理しないとぱさぱさになる。そこで片くり粉をまぶしてアスパラといためてポン酢マヨネーズとあえる。もう一品は昨日配偶者が買ってあったメカジキをニンニクと炒めてローズマーリーで香りづけるする。15分でできる。
On my way home from my walk this morning, I bought some bird breasts from the nearby My Basket. It’s the cheapest meat in the world, but if you don’t cook it well, it’s going to be dry. Then, dust with katakuriko (potato starch), make it with okra and serve with ponzu mayonnaise. The other dish is the swordfish that my spouse bought yesterday, sauteed with garlic and fragrant with rosemary, which I could cook in 15 minutes.
後藤武さんから新著『鉄筋コンクリート建築の考古学』をいただく。既往研究の最初に拙訳『メディアとしてのコンクリート』を挙げて説明されている。変な話だがこの説明を読み拙訳の意義を再認識する。後藤さんの扱うアナトール•ド•ボドーは20世紀初頭に最初のコンクリート教会を作った人とフォーティーは書いていた。興味深い。じっくり読みます。
Mr. Takeshi Goto gave me a copy of his new book, “The Archaeology of Reinforced Concrete Architecture.” At the beginning of his previous research, he explained that he cited my translation of Concrete as a Media. Strange as it sounds, this explanation made me realize the significance of my translation again. Goto deals with Anatole de Bodeau, who built the first concrete church in the early 20th century, Forty wrote. Interesting. I will read it carefully.
坂牛研卒業生のカレンはUCLAの遠隔授業の楽しいプラットフォームを見せてくれた。それは単に学生たちがアップロードされている映像を見たり、先生とスカイプしたりだけではなく、学校の絵の中に教室、スタジオ、模型棚、ギャラリーがあってそこに提出したり、そこで授業が始まったりするのだそうだ。さすがLAで考えられそうなことだと感心した。
Sakaushi Lab graduate Karen showed us the fun platform of UCLA’s distance learning. It’s not just about students looking at uploaded videos or skyping with their teachers, it’s also about having classrooms, studios, model shelves, and galleries in the school’s paintings that they can submit to, and that’s where classes start. I was impressed that this was something that they could consider in LA.
時差を考慮して、午前中サンチアゴ、グアテマラシティ、ロサンゼルス、シンガポール、夜ベルリン、ロンドンで働く若き建築家たちにコロナの影響と将来についてインタビューした。合計5時間は話しただろう。建築家に何ができるかという問いに対しての答えはなかなか心動かされるものもあった。生きることの再考。歴史を学び返す。自分を開く。「アフタコロナ」という言葉がすでに世の中には出回り始めている。それに飛びついて一儲けする人たちも出てくるだろう。建築ももちろん明日から考えるべきことも出てくるかもしれない。しかしこの問題の射程は長い。ということを今日若き建築家たちと話しながら肝に命じた。
Taking into account the time difference, we interviewed young architects working in Santiago, Guatemala City, Los Angeles, Singapore, in the morning. Berlin, and London in the evening. I did it about Corona’s influence and future. We probably talked for a total of five hours. The answer to the question of what an architect can do was quite inspiring—rethinking Living. Learn history again. Open yourself up. The term “Aftacorona” is already starting to appear in the world. There will be people who will jump on it and make a buck. Architecture, of course, may also be something to think about from tomorrow. But the range of this issue is long. The long view is what I should take into consideration while talking to young architects today.
UCLAのゲストクリティークに呼ばれた。空いていたらどこでも行きますよ。
チェコワークショップが延期になった時この際zoomでやったら学生の旅費負担もないなと思った。加えて講評会に世界からゲストを呼ぼうと思った。そうこうしているうちにさっさと始まった国外の大学から呼ばれた、シンガポール大学、ITSMO大学、そして母校UCLA。楽しみ。
They invited me to the guest critique at UCLA. I’ll go wherever I can.
When we postponed the Check workshop, I thought that if we did it at ZOOM, students wouldn’t have to bear the cost of travel. Also, I wanted to invite guests from around the world to the critique session. In the meantime, They asked me to the University of Singapore, ITSMO University in Guatemala, and my alma mater, UCLA.
I’m looking forward to it.
うだ。そしてその事例がこの間遭遇した目白台インターナショナルビレッジ。この建物の意匠設計者3人(千葉さん、今井さん、川添さん)の個性を、統合するのにpcのモジュール共有は一役買ったそうだ。そう聞いでまた見に来た。これがフルPCとは！
