学会にて2時から8時まで6時間の議論。終わったらビールと行きたいが店は閉まり帰宅を急ぐ。いたし方なし。

6 hours discussion from 2:00 to 8:00 at the conference of AIJ. When I’m done, I wanted  to go to have beer , but the shop was closes and I hurry to go home. 

塩崎君達の設計は毎度法を上手くかいくぐる。コンクリート3階建の耐火建築物には竪穴区画を設けないといけない。しかし階段や間仕切り壁を木にして準耐火建築物と見做されると竪穴区画は不要となり上下の連続した空間が可能となる。

Shiozaki’s designs always go through the law well. A fire resisting division through pit section must be provided in a three-story concrete fireproof building. However, if the stairs and partition walls are made of wood and are regarded as a semi-fireproof building, the fire resisting division through pit section becomes unnecessary and a continuous space above and below becomes possible.

共同通信の記者バンドブックでは漢字はいくつかの例外を除いて常用漢字。常用でも母校教育大附属の附は使えないとある。固有名詞は例外か？

According to the Kyodo News reporter handbook, they are supposed to use Common kanji with a few exceptions. They say even if the kanji 附, that is a part of the name of my Highschool is Common kanji, you can’t use that kanji. Are proper nouns are exceptions?

アンドリュー•ワイエスの窓の絵が好きだ。堀江俊幸が『戸惑う窓』でワイエスの窓から覗きこむゼラニウムをこう説明していた。「何が起こるか分からないままに何かを待つという行為が画面の強度を高めていくのだ」。僕が好きな理由はその不気味さだなと合点がいった。自分の作る窓にもどこかそんな期待がある。

I like the paintings on the windows of Andrew Wyeth. Toshiyuki Horie explained the geranium drawn by Wyeth which looks through the window in his book “The Confused Window”. “The act of waiting for something without knowing what will happen increases the strength of the screen.” The point was that the reason I like it is that it’s creepy. There are some expectations for the windows I design.

午前中の入試監督終えて昼食べながらメール見たら「皆さん坂牛さんをお待ちです」というメールが9:10に入っている。ついにやった。編集長が編集会議をスケジュールに入れ忘れて欠席。すいません！

When I read the e-mail while eating lunch after finishing the entrance examination supervision in the morning, the e-mail saying “everyone is waiting for you” is at 9:10.  I finally did it.  The editor-in-chief forgot to schedule the editorial meeting and was absent.  Excuse me!
