曰く、本当にやりたいことをやって生きてください。そうしないと常に人の評価が気になり他人の人生を歩むことになります。
曰く、挑戦してください。失敗するリスクは挑戦しないでなりたい自分になれないリスクより遥かに小さいのです。
いい先輩を持って東大生は幸せだ！
A senior’s speech that moved me at the University of Tokyo entrance ceremony was on the internet.
He said, do what you really want to do and make a living. If you don’t, you’ll always be worried about people’s evaluations and live lives of others.
He said, give it a try. The risk of failure is far less than the risk of not being who you want to be without trying.

友人の勧めで読んでみた。私の博士論文にも引用した国富論は資本主義のスタート地点のように思っていた。それは間違いではないのだが、国富論の7年前に書いた道徳感情論における人間心理への洞察（人間には同感するという人の心を理解しようとする力がある）を理解しないと、国富論を読んでも見えざる手の表層理解に終わってしまう。ということがよくわかった。加えて、スミスはイギリス経済学者としてアメリカ独立を支持していたとは知らなかった。I read it on the recommendation of a friend. 福島, 富永さんから銀色の本を、横川さんから真っ白な本を頂いた。福島さんのアルミの表紙のアルミ建築のリサーチ本は私家版というところが素敵だ。東京スタイルで有名な都築響一は今面白い本は編集者の商業主義の混じらない自費出版本だと言っていたが彼らの本を見るとそれを感じる。自由にのびのびとしている。横河さんの本は美しい。美しさがなんとなく伝わる。しかしやはり建築の美しさは本物みないとわからないところが恨めしい（私の想像力の欠如も原因である）。Mr. Fukushima and Ms. Tominaga gave me a silver book, and Mr. Yokogawa gave me a pure white book.
