Taku Sakaushi

能作さんの新作を拝見した。新宿に程近い私鉄駅から住宅街に繋がる小道に建つ商業建築。素敵な店が並んでいる。この建物にもそんな街を彩るお店が入るらしい。地盤が悪く鋼管杭を伸ばし基礎無しで土台を支えている。樋はなく雨水は埋め込まれた竹筒を介して地下に流れる。私の近所には土の私道がありホッとする。都会の土は貴重だ。

I saw Nousaku’s new work. A commercial building standing on a path that leads from a private railway station near Shinjuku to a residential area. There are nice shops. It seems that this building will also have a shop that colors such a town. The ground is bad and steel pipe piles are stretched to support the foundation without a concrete foundation. There are no gutters, and rainwater flows underground through embedded bamboo pipes. There is a dirt driveway in my neighborhood, which is a relief. City soil is precious.

3月のチェコワークショップでは理科大生18人、リベレツ工科大生18人を2人ずつ4人1チームにしてコンペ敷地を使ってオルタナティブ提案をする。理科大生はリベレツ工科大のドーミトリーに泊まる。製図室は24時間オープン。敷地は市内の中央に近いエリア。資料が届く。At the Czech workshop in March, 18 TUS students and 18 Liberec University of Technology students will be divided into teams of four, each consisting of two students, for a competition. TUS students stay in the dormitory of Liberec University of Technology. The drafting room is open 24 hours. Area that competition site is near the center in the city. Materials have arrived.

卒計の採点に4時間かかった。今年は一つずつコメントを書いた。書いて分かったが9割はおそらく最初のスケッチが清書されたもの。設計という行為の前で終わっている。緊迫感が無いので読み込む意欲が高まらない。
It took me four hours to grade graduation thesis project. I wrote one comment for each this year. As I wrote it, 90% of it was probably the fair copy of the first sketch. It ends before the act of designing. Since there is no sense of urgency, the desire to read does not arise.

日建の先輩から送られてきた4日前のBBCニュース。日本は未来だったが今や過去。僕らは努力してないんだなきっと。殿様商売はもう辞めないと。大学しかり。教師も学生も本気でやらないと世界から取り残される。BBC news from 4 days ago sent from my senior at Nikken. Japan was the future, but now it’s stuck in the past. I guess we’re not trying. We have to quit the lord’s business. It is also the case in the university. If teachers and students don’t do it seriously, they will be left behind in the world.

マドリード工科大の4年生がインターンシップしたいとポートフォリオ送ってきた。ベレン•モネオの紹介だし、きっと優れているだろうと思い中を見て驚く。100ページ自作のみで構成されていた。ポートフォリオは量だなと感ずる。
A fourth-year student at the Technical University of Madrid sent me a portfolio asking for an internship. He was introduced by Belen MONEO and I was surprised to see huge excellent book. It consisted of 100 pages of only self-made work. I feel that the importance of portfolio is quantity.
