制作者の僕にとって美学を学ぶのは制作の切り口を探すため。一方受容者である彼らにとっての美学は新たな受容の道筋を模索なのだが、それは場合によっては新たな制作の目標の受容者側からの提示でもある。しかし彼らは新しい美学を作るために新しい制作を見て回っている。概念で完結せず、感性を働かせている。制作と受容は常に表裏一体なのである。

看護師は人によって対処が違う。優しいタイプ。決して屈しないタイプ。優しいがある一線を超えると言うタイプ。当たり前だろうがキレる人はいない。僕にはできないなと思う。人の心理のギリギリのところで働く彼らの冷静さと言動力には感嘆する。しかしもしかすると「聞かない力」があるのかもしれない。それなら僕にもあるが、、、

旧厚生年金病院は山田守の名作で1932年に生まれ、世紀の代わり目頃まで現存していた。祖母が入院し、見舞った時のあの透明感のあるランプを思い出す。日建の隣りにあった割にはあまり利用しなかったのは父親の縁があった三楽病院に行くことが多かったからである(母は三楽で生まれ三楽で息を引き取った)。
新厚生年金も山田守事務所の設計で、2000年に竣工。その後運営母体の改組で名前が変わり、JCHO東京メディカルセンターとなった。バブル期の合併改名に多くある長い名前は心に残らないがその意味するところは地域医療機能推進機構で今回の「みみ・はな•のど神楽坂クリニック」の女医の的確な指示とコロナの最中、即受けてくれたこの連携プレーに施設コンセプトを実感した。ちなみにこのJCHOの理事長はあの尾身会長である。
一昨年、近所にあるこの病院は配偶者との散歩コースで真っ白な山田流曲線が交差点のアクセントになっていると感じた。しかし完成後20年の老朽化は隠せない。エスカレーターはガタピシ鳴るし照明は薄暗い。だから建て替えではなく、こういう、20年くらい経った建てものの上手なリノベの仕方をマジで考えないといけないと痛感する。しかしさらに言えば、最初にいい材料でいい空間を作っておけばと思う。旧三楽病院のパーケットフロアは今でも頭に蘇る。特に階段室のそれ。外光がたくさん入る場所だったからで空間として心に残っている。山田守のランプもそうだ。ランプの車椅子に座る祖母が蘇る。老朽化とは単に物が古びることだけではない。人々の心の中で陳腐化するという意味も含む、それは材料や、構法だけの問題ではなくもっと空間やディテールを含む総合的なことである。サスティナブルとは陳腐化しないデザインという側面も重要なのである。しかし全ては定量化しないと気が済まない、悪しき科学盲信がそんな評価基準を排除してしまう。見直すべきことだと思う。

Sustainable is also important in terms of design that does not become obsolete. However, all must be quantified, and bad scientific blind faith eliminates such evaluation criteria. I think it should be reviewed.
イビキとオナラの大合唱で大部屋は眠れない。でも彼らのわがまま同様、人間の素が晒されている感じである。
医は仁術と言うがどんなわがまま相手にも差別無く施す姿は仁だと思う、また今日、自分に施された施術や言葉にも仁を感じる。しかし日本の医療現場も悪いアメリカナイズで、すぐ訴訟されるようになり、医者も大変だと感じる。
建築家はどうか？果たして僕が今日医師に感じたたほどの畏敬の念を持たれうるだろうか？それは原理的に叶わないのではないか。しかし訴訟はされる。そう考えると割りに合わない仕事である。しかし医は対象が命だから喜ばれる時も怒られる時も半端ないのだろう。それはそれで大変かもしれない。
