大学院受験の季節。研究室の学生は国立を受ける人も毎年数名いる。授業料が安いし先生も多いから環境はいい。芸大、東大、東工大にトータル２０人くらいは行っただろうか。先輩の後を追う人が多いが、今年は初めて京都を受ける人もいるようだ。The season for graduate school entrance exams. There are several students in the laboratory who enter national universities every year. The environment is good because the tuition fee is low and there are many teachers. Did a total of about 20 people go to the University of the Arts, the University of Tokyo, and Tokyo Institute of Technology? Many people follow their seniors, but it seems that a student will try Kyoto for the first time this year.

この本は著者が小学生の頃から追い求めた蝶の研究が綴られた小学校高学年向けの本である。内容は蝶が色を見分け、匂いを嗅ぎ別けることを突き止める試行錯誤実験の話である。著者は出来上がった科学の結果ではなく、まだ実験途中の紆余曲折を描きたかったと言っている。建築の本でも出来上がった結果ではなく、そのスタディの紆余曲折を知りたくて、そんな本を作っている。しかしそこには３０以上の例がでてくるが、もっと少ない例で深く掘り下げた本も作ってみたい。

This book is for upper primary school children about the author’s research on butterflies, which he pursued since he was a schoolboy. It is the story of a trial-and-error experiment to find out how butterflies distinguish between colors and smells. The author wants to show the twists and turns of an investigation in progress, not the finished scientific result. I am making a book about the twists and turns of the architectural study, not the finished result. There are more than 30 examples in the book, but I would like to make a book with fewer examples and go deeper.
