オリンピックに照準を合わせて企画されて、しかしコロナ問題でベクトルがねじ曲がった本を2冊ほど読んだ、五十嵐さんのこの本はギリギリまだオリンピックの延期が決まる前に出版された東京論である。

Igarashi-san’s book, which was planned with the aim of the Olympics, but read about two books with twisted vectors due to the corona problem, is a Tokyo theory published just before the postponement of the Olympics was decided.

小田部さんの『美学』を崇高論のところまで読んだ。この本はカントの判断力批判の解説であるが、単なるガイドブックではない。各章をABCの３つのパートに分けて、その章の説明、その章の内容の生まれ出ずる過去の言説、そしてその章の内容が及ぼした現代への影響と分けて書いてある。判断力批判を解釈することで美学史を書いていることになる。ゆえにこの本のタイトルは『美学』なのである。なんと目から鱗ドゥルーズはカントに質料の美学があったことを読み込んでいるなんてことはこういう書き方をしているからこその貴重な知識である。

I have read Mr. Odabe’s “Aesthetics” up to the point of the theory of the sublime. This book is a commentary on Kant’s Critique of Judgment, but it is not a mere guidebook. He divided each chapter into three ABC parts; in part A, he explained the chapter, part B is the discourse of the past from which the chapter’s content emerges, and part C is the influence of the chapter’s content on the present. In interpreting the Critique of Judgement, he wrote a history of aesthetics. Hence the title of the book: ‘Aesthetics.’ What an eye-opener! Deleuze has read that Kant had an aesthetics of the material is a valuable piece of knowledge that comes from writing in this way.

I have learned by reviewing 18 graduates and master’s designs again in the laboratory. There is a condition that it does not become a good project no matter how hard you try.

My doctor told me that I shouldn’t eat carbohydrates suddenly, even when I’m hungry and three meals. I remembered that Madonna used to carry a tapper with boiled vegetables in it, so I decided to make broccoli boiled in the morning and put it in a tapper with boiled eggs and tuna and eat it before meals.

学会の小委員会の主査を2期4年務めたし、くじ運強く親委員会の委員長にならずに済んだ。そろそろ学会活動は後陣に道を譲らねば。昔和田先生に学会は教員のボランティアの場だと言われたが十分寄与したと思う。未だ黄表紙なども出すがそれもあと4年。

I served as the chief committee of the subcommittee of the AIJ for two terms and four years, and I was lucky enough not to become the chairman of the parent committee.  It’s time to give way to the apse for AIJ activities.  A long time ago, Professor Wada told me that the AIJ was a place for teachers to volunteer, but did I contribute enough?  I still will submit papers to AIJ journal, but it will be over in four years.

親父の意識レベルが低下してきた。たまに目が開くが私を私と認識してはいない。口が頻繁に動く。開いたり閉じたり、真一文字結んだり、苦しそうにも見えるが、何かを言いたいようでもある。5分と言われたが離れ難い。コロナ禍面会を許可いただき感謝である。
My father’s level of consciousness has declined. Sometimes his eyes open but he doesn’t recognize me. The mouth moves frequently. It opens and closes, ties and looks painful, but it also seems to want to say something. I was told to see him for 5 minutes, but it’s hard to leave. Thank you for allowing me to visit him under Corona situation.
