宮晶子さんがサバティカルをとって春から私の研究室の客員准教授である。そして一緒に勉強したいところだがこんなことになり、毎週zoomで勉強中。今日は辞令が出たが渡せないので郵送。後期になってもきっと対面ゼミはできない（しない、する気がない）だろうからこのサバティカルはヴァーチャルなものになる可能性大。でも結局成果が上がればいいわけで、そう考えるとサバティカルをいただきハーバードの客員研究員を日本にいてすることも可能ということだ。であるならサバティカルとらしてもらおうかな？？

Akiko Miya took a sabbatical and became a visiting associate professor in my lab. I want to study with her, but this is what happened, and we zoom the survey every week. I got a letter of resignation today, but I can’t give it to her, so I sent it by mail. I don’t think I’ll be able (or willing) to do the face-to-face seminar even in the second semester, so I think a sabbatical has a great potential to be a virtual one,  in the end, as long as the results are good, that’s all that matters, and if you think about it that way, you can take a sabbatical and become a guest lecturer at Harvard. even in Japan. If so, I wonder if I could take a sabbatical.

最近ハーバードで教える様になったディエゴからメールが来てTHE STUDY OF KAZUO SHINOHARA’S TEXT AND STRUCTURAL FORM AND SPATIAL FORM OF RESIDENTIAL WORKS: The change in Kazuo Shinohara’s view of architecture through conception of “ordinary/extraordinary”の論文を読見たいというので、これは日本語だよと言ったら英文のアブストラクトでいいという。どこでこの黄表紙の存在を知ったのかと思って聞いたらハーバードの図書館の検索エンジンHOLLISに引っかかったという。早速アクセスしてみると世界中の図書館と繋がっている。ちなみに蔵書も簡単に検索できる。拙著『建築の規則』、『建築の条件』、『人間主義の建築』は蔵書されていた。ありがたいのだが、ほとんどの人は読めないだろうし、やはり本はバイリンガルにしないといけないと痛感。『建築の設計力』をおいていただければ嬉しい。これはバイリンガル。

山本さんの創作の思想は修士論文である。設計者は創ることに寄与する論文を書くべきことが昨日例証された。

卒論は論文の書き方練習だとしても、修士、博士はどんなにうまく書けても、創ることへの理路がないものは私たちにとって意味はない。果たして君の論文は創る思考を紡ぐのか？ただの科学的御遊びじゃないのか？創ることへの理路はどこにあるのか？再確認して欲しい。

Yamamoto’s original architectural idea is a master’s thesis. It was demonstrated yesterday that designers should write papers that contribute to their creation.

Even if a graduate thesis is a practice of writing a thesis, no matter how well a master and a doctor can write, it is meaningless to us that there is no reason to create it. Will your paper spin the thoughts you make? Isn’t it just a scientific play? Where is the logical path to creation? Please reconfirm.

知っている料理を作る興味が失せてきた。なんとか知らない味を目指しているが今日は成功。那須にシーチキンと鰹節と白ごま、そこに酢と醤油で5分チン。牛コマを炒めてレンコン、長ネギ炒めに入れて酒、ポン酢で炒め蒸す。３つ目は豚バラをカリカリに炒めてインゲン入れて豚の脂でゆっくり揚げる。そこにポン酢。

I’ve lost interest in making dishes I know. I’m trying to achieve a taste I don’t know, but today I succeeded. Nasu with sea chicken, bonito flakes, and white sesame seeds, then put it in the microwave for 5 minutes with vinegar and soy sauce. Sauté the beef and add them to lotus roots and green onions, and fry and steam them with sake and ponzu. The third one is pork. Fry it crispy, add green beans and fry it slowly in pork fat. Then add ponzu.

zoomで山本理顕さんにインタビューをした。いつもインタビューをするときはその人の書いたこと、作ったものは大体読むし、見るし、図面を解読する。そしてその処女作から解剖する様に聞く。今回は山本さんだからその方法はやめて現在の山本さんに集中しようかと思ったのだが、山本さんの資料を読み込むうちにやはり最初から行こうと思い改めた。というのも初期の重要概念「共同体内共同体」概念が山本さんの現在にまで生きずいているからである。そしてインタビューでこ概念の生まれ出ずるところを聞いていくうちにこれは修士論文であることを知って驚いた。さらに驚いたのはこの「共同体内共同体」概念が現在まで生きずいているのは、その後ハンナ・アーレントの思想と共振したからなのである。このアーレントとの奇跡的な邂逅に驚かざるを得ない。

I interviewed Riken Yamamoto on zoom. Whenever I question, I read, look at his work, drawings, and other things. Decipher and dissect it from its first work. I was thinking of dropping that method and concentrating on Mr. Yamamoto’s presence since this time is Mr. Yamamoto. As I read Mr. Yamamoto’s materials, I decided to start from the beginning. The reason for this is that the critical concept of “community within a community” from his early days is still very much alive in Mr. Yamamoto’s work. It is. In the interview, I was surprised that I learned that it is a master’s thesis that it occurred to him of that idea. I was even more surprised to learn that this concept of “community within a community” has survived to the present day because it resonated with the ideas of Hannah Arendt. One can’t help but be surprised by this miraculous encounter with Arendt.

大村君の博士論文の公聴会をzoomで行なった。Zoomでやるのも良し悪しだが、多くの人が参加できたのは利点である。７０人の人が聞いてくれた、南は九州から北は北海道とは言わないが宇都宮まで、そして海外もアメリカ、チリから聴講者がいた。アメリカの大学の先生は日本には研究室という制度があるからこそこうした緻密な指導と成果があるのだと羨んでいた。それはそうかもしれない。週２回ほぼ一年続けた二人の研究の旅がなければこの新しい方法論はできなかっただろう。副査の先生が言っていたが大村がさらに研究の内容だけではなく研究の方法論をブラッシュアップして将来の学生たちに教えて言って欲しいものである。
We held a public hearing on Mr. Ohmura’s doctoral thesis via Zoom. As a result, many people were able to participate. Seventy people listened, from Kyushu in the south to the north. There were participants from as far away as Utsunomiya, though I don’t say Hokkaido, as well as from the United States and Chile. American university professors said you could provide such precise guidance and results because of the laboratory system in Japan. He was jealous that there was one. It might as well be. This new methodology would not have been possible without our twice-weekly research trips for almost a year. The sub-referees said that Ohmura had to brush up not only the content of the research but also its methodology. I would like to see him tell their future students about it.

空腹時血糖値に黄色信号がついている。去年はNGSP値に黄色がついていた。甘いものは控えているが糖分が下がらない。糖尿が専門の友人に聞くと、親類に糖尿がいなければ気にするほどではないと言われた。そう言われると急にビールが旨い。

Fasting blood sugar has a yellow signal. Last year the NGSP value was yellow. I refrain from sweets, but the sugar does not fall. When I asked a specialist friend about diabetes, I was told that I wouldn’t mind if my relatives had no diabetes. When I was told that, beer was delicious.

翻訳を8月には脱稿するが、店頭に、並ぶのは2月か3月。言葉と建築に代わる新しい大学院の教科書にしたい。

定価を抑える工夫として15万字ある註をQRコードで読めるように考えいるが、QRコードは未来永劫存在しないだろう。その場合どこに格納してそのアクセスをどう保証したらいいなだろうか？誰かご教示ください。

Although the translation will be drafted in August, it will be lined up in stores in February or March. I want to make it a new graduate school textbook that replaces words and buildings.

As a device to keep the list price down, we are thinking of making it possible to read the 150,000-character note using the QR code, but the QR code will not exist forever. If so, where should it be stored and how should that access be guaranteed? Please tell someone.

神楽坂も朝は人もまばら、スーパーがあと1時間早く始まると嬉しいが。不特定多数の混んでいる場所は避けることにしている。レストラン、スーパー、電車など。大学や事務所は特定だからまだいいけど、入試は受験生も監督者も、十分気をつけないと。大学院入試くらいは人数が少ないからいいが、問題は来春である。

翻訳をいっしょにやっている同級生の設計したホテルが9月に大手町にできるそうだ。それなら「go to キャンペーンを使って泊まりに行こう」と言ったらgo to キャンペーンの上限は2万だそうで、このホテルは一泊10万だとか、、、、まあ9月までこのキャンペーンが続くわけもないだろうから所詮考えるだけむだだろうが。
